Mansion Maintenance

HELP needed early 2025 please!

We have a team of volunteers who help with routine maintenance at the Mansion, under the supervision of our operations manager. Tasks include painting and decorating, laying wood flooring, routine repairs, finding leaks, cutting back foliage and mowing grass.

If you’re happy and capable to do DIY and other similar household jobs, you’d have the skills to join our team. And of course we’d particularly welcome anyone who’d had trade experience in these areas. The maintenance team normally come on Monday mornings, but we have a lot of work on in early 2025, and could be flexible about working on other weekdays.

Open Days

Our volunteers are very important to us, we couldn’t run our Open Days and many other aspects of the Mansion without them. The Mansion Trust grew out of local voluntary support, and this continues to be essential. The efforts of the volunteers are much valued by the Trustees.

We need lots of new helpers for Open Days this year, especially on weekends. We’re a friendly group of about 50 people with a range of ages and interests. If you enjoy meeting people and have a big smile 😃, we have a space for you in our team. If you love historic buildings, then the fascinating Mansion will amply reward your interest. There is so much to find out, so many layers.

Our public Open Days for 2025 are on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 4th April to 2nd November, plus Bank Holiday Mondays. (We are also open on Good Friday 18th Apr).

There are vacancies for minibus drivers (age over 25 please, D1 on licence not required), reception and ticket desk volunteers, and tour guides.

We need lots of volunteers!

Full training is given to all volunteers, and you will work with another volunteer until you are confident in the role.

Once trained, you choose the times when you volunteer using our on-line rota. It’s up to you when you come.
